Sunny Side Up
Summer is well and truly here, and nothing says Summer more than Ice Cream and of course that essential summer accessory, sunglasses!

Not only do they make us all look like rock stars and celebrities, they also serve a vital purpose in protecting your eyesight from harmful ultraviolet rays, that can cause short- and long-term eye damage.
Here, our founder & CEO, Mr Eirik Moseng, in front of Google HQ, California on a sunny day with his sunglasses on.
When choosing your sunglasses you should consider the following factors:-
Make it 100% and buy glasses marked with 100% UV Protection. This is the single most import factor!
Bigger is Better so consider buying oversized glasses or ones with a wraparound-style, which help cut down on UV entering the eye from the side…think Bono and you’re on the right lines!
Darker lenses don’t protect better, it’s the level of UV protection that’s important
Colour doesn’t matter either, not for blocking out the sun anyway but coloured glasses can increase contrast, which can be useful for athletes who play sports such as cricket, golf and baseball
Polarised lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as water but they don’t reduce UV.
Cost should not be a factor. Sunglasses needn’t be expensive to work well. Many low cost styles are just as effective- remember it’s the tag/sticker with “100% UV Protection” that counts!
Tuesday 27 June 2017 is National Sunglasses Day and we are asking you to help us raise awareness of the importance of protecting your eyes by posting a #ShadesForSight sunglasses selfie. Make sure you tag friends in your post and encourage them to take part and spread the message of #ShadesForSight.
