We’re feeling empowered, are you?

The RNIB’s flagship publication, NB Online, turned 100 in January, which is an amazing achievement.

You can find out more from the RNIB’s website here:

The highlights that resonated with us here at CONSPEXIT were the reminder about how much the world has changed in the last 100 years. The first edition was published when Britain and France were fighting Germany in WWI, revolution had broken out in Russia and technology as we know and love it today, didn’t exist. Also, that the magazine focused on empowerment, aimed in the early days at the returning soldiers from war who had lost their sight.

The Oxford Dictionary states: ‘Empowerment is about the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.’

Fast forward 100 years and the technological landscape is vastly different. Yet, sadly, attitudes toward people with visual impairments still have a long way to go and although many advancements have been made in relation to the prevention and cure of sight loss and general awareness, there are too many people who don’t feel as empowered as they should.

The CONSPEXIT iA application is designed specifically to discreetly empower the visually impaired, while the games we’re developing over at CONSPEXIT GAMES STUDIO will not only appeal to regular gamers but will also be accessible to people with sight loss as well, empowering them further.

As individuals working on CONSPEXIT we are becoming stronger and more confident, we’re drawing on our extensive game development and business skills and have formed new relationships with so many wonderful people who are now assisting us on our journey. Our intention is to continue something the RNIB started in January 1917; Empowerment of people with sight loss.

If you have a story from the past 100 years relating to empowerment, technology or sight loss, why not share it with us in the comments below.
