Who put that there!

We rely on our eyes to keep us safe but if you’re blind or partially sighted, then you’re at a distinct disadvantage in today’s modern cities and towns.

Most of us hurry about our daily lives without much thought to the rubbish bins that litter the pavement or the parked cars that have bumped up onto the kerb. We simply use our eyes to alert us to the obstacle and go around it.

Yet this isn’t an option for people with sight loss. Instead, venturing outside can become a traumatic experience but it doesn’t have to be that way if we were all more considerate.

The RNIB are currently running a campaign to keep our pavements clear from unforeseen obstacles. Here at Conspexit, we fully support this campaign.

You can find out more on the RNIB website where they have lots of helpful information on how to go about removing obstacles within your community.

The next time you’re walking around your local streets, why not keep a look out for obstacles and see how many you can spot? There’s probably more than you think! Why not leave us a comment to let us know what you discovered.
