This May, the RNIB held its annual “Wear Dots, Raise Lots” campaign, highlighting the enormous impact of braille and helping them to support the hundreds of people in the UK that start to lose their sight every day. Right across the UK, thousands of people have taken part in fundraising events that have involved wearing dots, baking and selling dotty cakes and generally educating the wider community.
Here at Conspexit we couldn’t resist hosting a cake sale in the foyers of Workspace’s Print Rooms and The Metal Box Factory in Bankside, London. With the kind help of master bakers Ellie and Stella, from the London-based Bake a Difference Meetup group, we raised over £250 treating visitors to our stand to a fine selection of delights that Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood would have been proud of!
Conspexit is currently prototyping and designing an application that will personally assist people with a visual impairment to gain greater independent mobility. We’re especially inspired by children such as Joseph and Anna who describe the positive impact of the RNIB’s transcribing service has in delivering their favourite books into Braille and giant print format.
